Resilience was inspired by old growth forests, those "gentle giant" trees that survive year after year. They continue to provide oxygen and beauty and respite for all of us, in the face of pollution and forest fires and changing population patterns. They ask nothing from us in return, other than we allow them the time and space to continue growing. The trees were here long before we humans arrived, and I trust that they will still be here long after we are gone.
